Performance vs. Lean meals… what’s the difference?

Performance (Red Label)

To maximize everyday well being…not just for athletes but anyone who leads an active life.  Performance meals will include a protein, complex carb, and veg.  Those looking for weight/muscle gain can also eat Performance meals.

Lean (Green Label)

These meals will be for those looking to lose weight, or generally eat healthier with a focus on medium protein, high veg, and lower carb.

About 95% of our Fit Kitchen meals contain gluten-free ingredients which will be clearly labeled as gluten-free on our packages.  Please note that cross contamination can exist by suppliers in manufacturing plants that produce ingredients used in Fit Kitchen meals and snacks. Cross contamination can also occur in our kitchen as a small percentage of foods we cook are not gluten-free.  If you have a life-threatening allergy or food sensitivity we suggest you refrain from consuming our products as your health and safety is of the utmost importance.

How do I reheat meals?

All Fit Kitchen meals are fully cooked and only require re-heating to an internal temperature of 175 degrees.  This is about 2.5 to 3 minutes in a microwave.  Our containers are microwave safe.  If you prefer to reheat in the oven be sure to transfer your meal to an oven safe dish.

Jason Zaran - Owner/Designated Eater


Family, friends, food, and fitness (not always in that order) have been cornerstones of Jason's life as far back as he can remember. A Business graduate from SAIT Polytechnic, Jason got right into the Consumer Packaged Goods industry in the 1980’s. Over the next 20 plus years with companies such as Boyle-Midway and SunRype he advanced his career into management  ultimately serving for a decade as  Western Regional Manager for the H.J. Heinz Company of Canada long burning desire to try his hand at entrepreneurship led Jason to leave the corporate life and embark on starting his own business.. A deep knowledge of the food industry, history in competitive recreational sport and a passion for finding healthy meals on the go, led him to the "light bulb" discovery of The Main Dish. Under Jason’s vision and leadership Main Dish has pioneered Calgary’s scene for healthy convenient eating and under Jason’s vision and leadership it has grown over the past 10 years to encompass 5 very different locations including two corporate kitchens and the exciting new Fit Kitchen concept in McKenzie Towne. Over the years thousands of busy Calgarians now benefit from his unique lifestyle based eating alternatives.














As part of its key cornerstones of corporate giving Main Dish/Fit Kitchen has provided food sponsorships to numerous national caliber amateur athletes including Kaillie Humphries, Helen Upperton, Jeremy Wotherspoon, Mellisa Hollingsworth, Denny Morrison, Gilmore Junio, Jesse Lumsden, Erica Weibe and many more.  Jason has served on the board of Alberta Youth Outreach Foundation, is a member of the SAIT Marketing Program Advisory Council and is currently Chair of the Calgary Multisport Fieldhouse Society. He resides in Calgary with his wife and two teenage children
